James E. Hohmann is president and CEO of Allstate Financial and a member of the Allstate senior management team.

Prior to joining Allstate in 2007, Hohmann served as president and chief operating officer of Conseco, Inc. Prior to that, he served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer of the company, with responsibility for Conseco's legal, actuarial, new product development, information technology, strategic planning and business development functions.

Before joining Conseco, Hohmann served as president and CEO of XL Life and Annuity, where he was responsible for the creation of XL Capital's U.S.-based life insurance platform and related businesses, and formed XL Life and Annuity Holding.

Prior to XL, Hohmann served as president, financial institutions for Zurich Kemper Life, and before that, was managing partner of the Life Health Insurance Practice in Chicago for Tillinghast, Towers Perrin.

Hohmann holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University, and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
