Allstate Life Global Funding, a special purpose statutory trust, has now issued, through Allstate Life Global Funding Trusts, an $85 million inaugural retail registered medium term note transaction. These notes were issued under Allstate Life Global Funding's $4 billion medium term note shelf registration that was initially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on April 27, 2004. As part of the transaction, Allstate Life Insurance Company issued a like amount of funding agreements to Allstate Life Global Funding.
In general, notes sold under Allstate Life Global Funding's $4 billion shelf registration may be sold to individual and institutional investors. This transaction consists of an $85 million 12-year combination fixed to leveraged inflation-linked notes, which were sold to individual retail investors. These retail notes were sold through the issuer's underwriter and extend Allstate's brand to the broadest possible investor base.
Prior to this transaction, Allstate Life Insurance Company has issued more than $11.2 billion of funding agreements that secure medium term notes. These previous notes were sold only to institutional buyers in the United States and off-shore.
