Allstate Insurance Company announced the appointment of Chuck Paul, 53, to group vice president and will lead a team focused on the company's emerging businesses. He will be based in Northbrook, Ill.

In his new role, Paul will be responsible for emerging businesses, including Allstate's commercial and specialty insurance lines, Allstate Motor Club and credit insurance business. This position was created to take greater advantage of smaller lines of business that offer Allstate opportunities for profitable growth while seeking to increase the number of Allstate products per household.

Paul was previously vice president, claims strategy, responsible for initiatives to continuously improve Allstate's Property-Casualty Claim Service Organization. In this role, Paul recognized emerging issues facing the industry and successfully guided the company's strategy to enhance Allstate's claim processes and operations.
