State domestic violence coalitions were awarded a total of $250,000 in grants from SAFE HANDS: The Allstate Network for Empowering Women, a new program of The Allstate Foundation to provide critical services addressing the financial challenges faced by survivors of domestic violence. The funding was announced at the 2005 Economic Justice Conference hosted by The Allstate Foundation and the National Network to End Domestic Violence in Chicago on September 29. Fifty-thousand dollar grants were awarded to the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
